This is where you stop contributing to your pension scheme, either because you have left your employer or because you’ve requested payments to stop. Where you cease active membership you won’t be entitled to a refund and the contributions you’ve made will remain invested in your pension pot. You’ll be considered to have ceased active membership if:
- You joined via contractual enrolment and leave at any time or,
- You joined via auto-enrolment and are leaving one calendar month or more since joining. If you choose to leave within one calendar month of joining, this is normally called opting out and you may be entitled to a refund of contributions paid.
