We've all been there, go to the
supermarket with an empty stomach
and find the trolley filling with all
kinds of snacks and treats you don't
need. Always go shopping after a meal!

There's nothing worse than getting
to the checkout and being charged
5p for a carrier bag. You've got two
choices: fill every pocket with food
whilst you use your chin to stabilise
the pile of food in your arms or reuse
old carrier bags.

Not only does drinking lots of water have great
health benefits, it can also have financial benefits.
Drink a big glass of water before each meal and not
only will you digest it better, you won't eat as
much, helping to save on the food bill. You'll
also find yourself feeling a bit better as you begin
to get adequately hydrated.

Make lunch
How much do you spend on lunch
every day £3, £5, £7? Making lunch
isn't free, but it's cheaper than
buying it. You also get more control
over what you put in your body, to
help keep that waistline in check.

Avoid the Christmas rush and do your
present shopping in the mid-season sales,
not only will you more than likely find
everything you need at half the price,
you'll also enjoy a stress free run up
to Christmas. Just don't forget anyone!

Don't worry, you don't have to sit in the
dark every night! Installing energy-saving
light bulbs, drying clothes around the house
instead of using the tumble dryer and turning
appliances off instead of leaving them on
stand-by are just a few of the things you can
do to cut your electricity bill.

Take time out every couple of months
to make sure you're not losing money
by paying more than you have to for
gas and electricity. Compare energy
prices online and see how much you
could save.

Invite friends over instead of going out
Almost every activity at home is less expensive
than going out. Invite some friends over and
host a dinner, game or movie night... and have
a few drinks. Everyone will have fun, the cost
will be low, and there's always someone to
return the favour in the near future.

Don't pay extra for small sizes,
buy big and stock up on offers
(of non-perishable stuff obviously).
