Why have I been put into a pension scheme I didn’t ask for?

Government legislation means that all employers now have to automatically enrol all employees into a workplace pension scheme if they meet certain criteria regarding their age and earnings. This is to encourage people to start making their own retirement savings as the State Pension is unlikely to be enough to live comfortably.

If you don’t want to be in a workplace pension you can opt out.
