A non-eligible jobholder has the right to opt in to a qualifying pension scheme and you must make contributions on their behalf.
Entitled workers can elect to join a pension scheme. This means you must put them into a pension scheme but it doesn’t need to be the qualifying pension scheme you’ve used for automatic enrolment. However, you’re not obliged to make contributions for entitled workers.
If you’re using The People’s Pension as your pension provider, you can let us know about any employees opting in or joining The People’s Pension via your data file that you submit online.
