Has this automatic enrolment system been used in other countries?

Several countries have implemented schemes aimed at encouraging saving for a pension.

The KiwiSaver in New Zealand is the closest relation to UK’s automatic enrolment system. This scheme was launched in 2007 and now has over 2.5 million active members and its popularity is down to government incentives, clear communication when it was launched and advantageous tax rules.

Many similar schemes around the world have been introduced in recent years.
