Do I still have to pay tax when I’m retired?

When you get to State Pension age you won’t have to pay National Insurance contributions, but you may still have to pay income tax if your income – including private and/or occupational pensions, State Pension and income from other sources such as deposits (and certain investments) – is over your tax-free personal allowance (£12,570 for the 2021/22 tax year).
